Jerusalem launches solar power project

The Jerusalem Municipality and the semi-public Moriah Municipality Company launched the largest solar project funded by a city on Monday, with the installation of the first wave of solar panels.
The solar project calls for NIS 35 million worth of solar panels to be installed on public buildings, most notably schools, around the city.
There will be a total of 50 solar systems when the project is completed, and the amount of electricity produced by the new solar panels will be displayed in a prominent location as part of a "green" curriculum for schools to teach about alternative energy.
The work will take place during the summer break.
