The first track of the Jerusalem marathon began on Friday at 7:00 AM. Israel Police stepped up the number of officers on duty in light of threats that members of the haredi (Ultra-orthodox) community would attempt to disrupt the event. A number of haredim had already arrived at places along the marathon route during the night, police said
