Jerusalem mayor: Bonfires forbidden after 6:00 in the morning

The mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Lion, announced on Wednesday that from 6:00 a.m. it will be absolutely forbidden to light bonfires within the city of Jerusalem.
The statement also requested that the public refrain from lighting bonfires due to the severe weather conditions, to follow all the safety instructions issued by firefighters and to act according to instructions issued by the municipality.
Israel is currently experiencing an unseasonable heat wave with low humidity and temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (above 100 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the country.
"The lighting of bonfires will only be permissible in places designated for this purpose by the local authorities," Israel Fire and Rescue Services said.
"In addition, in accordance with the instructions of the Firefighting Commission, the authority warned that it is forbidden to light fires while these conditions prevail at reserves and parks in Israel," the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority said.
