Jewish Agency to expand Ethiopian immigrants' eligibility to reside in absorption centers

Jewish Agency chairman Natan Sharansky announced Sunday a broadening of housing eligibility for Ethiopian immigrants to Israel provided by the organization's immigrant absorption centers.
"Integrating Ethiopian immigrants into Israeli society is a national mission of tremendous importance, and that begins with the move from immigrant absorption centers to permanent housing," Sharansky stated.
Sharansky said he has decided to extend, from two to three years, the eligibility of Ethiopian immigrants to reside in Jewish Agency absorption centers.
"This decision will be implemented immediately, and unlike the first two years of residency—which are funded by the Government of Israel—The Jewish Agency will assume the costs of the third year," he added.
