John Kerry hosts US, European Jewish leaders amid rise in anti-Semitic attacks

US Secretary of State John Kerry hosted a roundtable on rising anti-Semitism with US and European Jewish leaders at the State Department on Tuesday.
Kerry told the Jewish leaders that the US government is deeply concerned with the prevalence of threats and attacks against Jewish people, synagogues and businesses over the past few months.
A number of senior State Department officials attended the meeting, saying that the US was monitoring the worrying trend.
The State Department said that the US government is "reaching out to Jewish leaders to better assess conditions on the ground; and working closely through diplomatic channels to encourage governments to speak out against the rise in anti-Semitic threats and violence, and to ensure the security of Jewish communities."
