Jordan: US grants kingdom with extra aid of $150 million

US President Barack Obama has approved an additional economic assistance of $150 million to Jordan for the 2009 fiscal year, the Hashemite kingdom said. Jordan's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suhair Al-Ali said in a statement late Sunday that the funds constituted a supplemental assistance. The $150 million come in addition to the $363 million in regular US economic assistance to Jordan, bringing the total to $513 million. US financial aid to Jordan has contributed to the implementation of several important development projects, including water, health, education and environment projects, Al-Ali said.
