Judge orders Damjanjuk to appear in Munich court

A German judge ordered John Demjanjuk, 90, accused of serving as a concentration camp guard at the Sobibor death camp in Poland, to appear in his court in Munich on Thursday.

Demjanjuk was rolled into the court on a hospital stretcher, Reuters reported.

German media had reported that the trial could collapse if Demjanuk did not appear in court for three consecutive weeks. He was said to have refused to be brought to court from his Munich prison cell, even after being pronounced fit to appear at trial after suffering from dehydration.
