Judicial Selection Committee scheduled to reconvene Sunday

The Judicial Selection Committee is scheduled to reconvene on Sunday in another attempt to choose three new Supreme Court justices after the committee failed to do so on Friday. The committee is at loggerheads over the third nominee. Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch has refused to accept a candidate sponsored by the bloc of right-right wing politicians including MKs David Rotem (Yisrael Beiteinu Party) and Uri Ariel (National Union Party) and Environment Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud Party.) The bloc, on the other hand, insists on a package deal including one candidate favored by Beinisch (Tel Aviv District Judge Uzi Fogelman) one by Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman (Bersheba District Court Judge Yoseph Elon) and one by them.
