Kadima faction chair Dalia Itzik announced over the weekend that she and other MKs in her party would begin reading speeches submitted by the public on the Knesset floor on a weekly basis.
Itzik had intended to initiate the idea for the entire Knesset when she was speaker, but the election was advanced. She encouraged Jerusalem Post readers to submit speeches on the top issues of the day to firstname.lastname@example.org.
"The goal of the initiative is to strengthen ties between the MKs and the public and to give the public a voice in the parliament," Itzik said Saturday night. "Of course they can send them in English and I'll translate them, but we will only be able to deliver a limited number of the speeches submitted."
