Karnit Flug appointed as new Bank of Israel Governor

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister YairLapid have appointed Karnit Flug as the next Bank of IsraelGovernor.

Flug is the Deputy Bank of Israel Governor, and has servedas the acting central bank chief since former governor Stanley Fischer'sresignation in June.

She completed her doctorate at Columbia University, andserved as an IMF economist before joining the Bank of Israel in the1980's.
