Katsav prison sentence not to begin May 7 as scheduled

Former president Moshe Katsav will not begin serving his seven-year sentence for rape on Sunday as was originally scheduled, Army Radio reported on Tuesday.
The decision came after Katsav's attorneys filed an appeal to the Supreme Court on Monday against the sentence and the conviction. As part of the appeal they requested that Katsav not begin serving his sentence until appeal proceedings were completed.
