US Secretary of State John Kerry delivered a speech at a news conference on Wednesday. The secretary spoke on the future prospects of a two-state solution and overall Middle East peace in the region. Kerry began the conference by wishing those in attendance a 'merry Christmas' and a 'happy Hanukkah. 'Throughout this administration, [US] President Barack Obama has been devoted to' making peace in the Middle East,' Kerry said. 'The two-state solution is the only way to arrive at a just and lasting peace,' Kerry insisted, adding that the United States has a vested interest in protecting the 'Jewish and democratic state' of Israel, while seeking to maintain a lasting peace with its neighbors.
