Kerry meets with Jordan's King Abdullah to discuss peace process, Syria

US Secretary of State John Kerry met with King Abdullah II of Jordan in order to discuss peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, and the crisis in Syria, reported Jordan's official news agency Petra on Tuesday.
According to the report, the king asserted Jordan's continued support for the peace efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state on the basis of the 1967 lines with east Jerusalem as its capital.
In regards to the Syria crisis, the king reiterated his support for finding a comprehensive solution. He also pointed out the burden placed on Jordan as a result of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees, and the resulting stress on its limited resources, according to the report.
In response, Kerry asserted that the US would continue to support Jordan in its relief efforts for the Syrians, and commended the king for his continued efforts to achieve peace in the region.
