Kerry: Use of chemical weapons in Syria 'real, compelling and based on facts'

US Secretary of State John Kerry made a statement on Syria as the United States weighs options to respond to reports of a chemical weapons attack on civilians near Damascus, saying that the use of chemical weapons is "real, compelling and based on facts."
"What we saw in Syria last week should shock the conscience of the world, and defies any code of reality," Kerry stated, adding that the use of weapons is "undeniable."
Referring directly to Syrian President Bashar Assad, Kerry stated warned that the regime maintains custody of the chemical weapons.
"We know regime has been determined to clear opposition. With our own eyes, we are witnesses," Kerry warned.
Concluding, Kerry stated that Obama believes there "must be accountability for those who would use the worlds most heinous weapons against the most vulnerable people."
