Knesset employees complete government's first sustainability course

About 35 Knesset employees completed the government's first internal, comprehensive course on sustainability, under the framework of the Green Knesset Project. Involving employees from various different departments throughout the Knesset, the course was formulated by Dr. Samuel Chayen, sustainability coordinator for the Green Knesset Project.
The course occurred over the span of a full week and explored subjects such as environmental ethics, environmental law and environmental economics, according to a statement released on Monday by the Knesset. In addition, the employees learned about water, energy and waste and heard lectures by relevant experts and scholars, the statement said. At the opening of the course, Knesset director-general Ronen Plot proposed that in addition to their theoretical studies, the employees should take part in a new Green Patrol, to promote the environmental activities taking place in the Knesset both inside and outside the building.
