Labor MK: Prosecution burying sexual harassment law, afraid to file cases

Labor MK Merav Michaeli on Wednesday accused the prosecution of being "afraid of the Law for Preventing Sexual Harassment" and said that it was "burying" the law by unjustly closing related investigations.
Michaeli made the accusation in a letter to Shai Nitzan, the nominee for State Attorney, who is expected to take over the reins of the state's prosecutorial apparatus in the coming weeks.Michaeli's accusations came in the aftermath of a report distributed by the Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel which she said indicated that the prosecution was avoiding handling sexual harassment cases and closing the majority of cases because most prosecutors do not view it as a real crime.
The Labor MK slammed the prosecution for failure to implement the law, which she said took years of struggle and campaigning to pass.
