Head of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, reacted Sunday to the cabinet's approval of a controversial bill that would enable the next government to have 20 ministers instead of the 18 currently permitted by law and to appoint several deputy ministers.
"The Israeli government made a shameful decision today," Lapid said. "There's no other way to describe it."
Lapid said that the government would, in reality, be expanding far beyond the newly-approved 20 ministers.
He said that by doing so, the government would be allocating money that should be spent on welfare, security, and education to political arrangements.
Lapid vowed to fight the cabinet's approval of the bill.
Zionist Union Isaac Herzog also said that his party would lead a filibuster to try to prevent he bill from passing in the knesset.
