Lapid: Netanyahu actively prevented us from solving the housing crisis

Yesh Atid leader MK Yair Lapid accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday of preventing a solution to the Israeli housing crisis

Unveiling Yesh Atid's new housing plan at a construction site in Rosh Ha'ayin, Lapid said "We have only one goal. That every young couple from the middle class in Israel will be able to buy an apartment. It will be difficult, but we won't stop working until it happens," he said.

Lapid praised State Comptroller Joseph Shapira's decision to release a report on the government's handling of the housing issue in the coming week.

"This report must be issued, and Netanyahu knows well why he is trying to prevent it from being published. The public should know what we have had to deal with over the last year and eight months, and who is responsible for this insane rise in prices. For the past year and eight months we've battled the housing crisis in the face of a prime minister who has constantly tried to put a spoke in our wheel."
