Lapid: New budget raises funding for education, health and welfare, not just defense

Finance Minister Yair Lapid sung the praises of his new budget on Sunday, saying that the government would convene on Tuesday to pass the plan.

Speaking at a meeting of his Yesh Atid faction, Lapid said, "We succeeded in stabilizing the government after having started with a deficit of more than five percent."

Lapid said that the new budget "raises funding for not just defense, but also education, health, welfare and internal security, which helps the population – both the lower and middle classes."

The finance minister also touted his 0 VAT plan, saying, "For years, no one in this country did anything to lower the cost of housing. They let the monster grow and grow. Our budget will help young couples who served in the army buy apartments."
