Lapid refuses to fund paving of roadways in West Bank settlements

Finance Minister Yair Lapid abruptly ended a high-level meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office which was convened to discuss the infusion of government funds toward building more highways connecting Israeli settlements in the West Bank, according to Channel 2.
The meeting, which was attended by Lapid, Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel, Economy Minister Naftali Bennett, and Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, was scheduled days after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to more construction in the territories as a means of pacifying his restless coalition partners, the pro-settler Bayit Yehudi faction.
“The cost of these initiatives totals NIS 300 million,” Lapid said. “I support the paving of roadways to Kiryat Shmona, but not to the isolated settlements. I support building in Jerusalem, but not in the isolated settlements.”
