Lapid urges US Congressman to impose harsher sanctions on Iran

Finance Minister Yair Lapid continued relying Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's message on Iran in his visit to Washington, urging senior Congressman to impose harsher sanctions on Tehran.
Lapid told the Congressmen, including Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and Republican Majority leader Eric Cantor in the US House of Representatives, that sanctions must not be eased until western powers know with absolute certainty that Iran is unable to produce nuclear weapons.
Like Netanyahu, and other Israeli officials, Lapid warned that the moderate approach taken by Tehran in recent overtures is an attempt to "buy" time and that the fact Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is softening his stance is an indication sanctions are effective.
