KABUL - A large explosion was heard early Monday in the west of Afghanistan's capital Kabul, police said. The cause of the blast and any casualties were not immediately known.
Rescuers were on their way to the Jalalabad Road area, according to an official with the Kabul police media office.
The area has a US military base as well as Afghanistan's election commission headquarters and a large housing compound for United Nations and other international workers.
