Largest desalination plant in North America opens

With North America's largest desalination plant slated to open in southern California, supporters have claimed that sea water could ease the state's dependence on water imports during the ongoing drought.

Meanwhile opponents to the plant have argued the potential harm to marine life and the ocean as a result of the plant.

Over 2015, Israel and California increased their cooperation in water efficiency technology, with the Jewish State widely regarded as the world leader in water-tech.
