Ronald Lauder has been cleared to run for a third term as President of the World Jewish Congress, following a unanimous vote by the organization's plenary assembly during a meeting in Argentina on Wednesday.The philanthropist and former American ambassador, who has led the international Jewish group since 2007, will stand for reelection during its 2017 assembly in New York.There have been unconfirmed media reports that Dr. Moshe Kantor, the head of the European Jewish Congress, a WJC affiliate, plans on challenging Lauder for the Presidency next year. Kantor himself was reelected for another term following a vote this January in Brussels.
