Three of the greatest Jewish swimmers of all-time will grace the pool at the Wingate Institute during this summer’s Maccabiah, with the organizers announcing on Tuesday that former Olympic champions Jason Lezak and Lenny Krayzelburg will join the US delegation and compete in exhibition events, while current Olympic champion Anthony Ervin races for gold.
Around 9,000 athletes from over 50 countries will take part in the 20th Maccabiah to be held between July 4-18.
Lezak, who competed in the Maccabiah in 2009, has eight Olympic medals to his name – including four golds – from Sydney 2000 to London 2012. Krayzelburg, who took part in the 2001 Maccabiah, claimed three gold medals in the 2000 Games and one more in Athens four years later.
Ervin is the reigning Olympic champion in the 50-meter freestyle, winning the gold medal in Rio last summer, 16 years after doing so for the first time in Sydney.
