Liberman aides dismiss reports Netanyahu offered him defense minister post

Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Liberman dismissed media reports on Tuesday that he rejected an offer from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to serve as his defense minister.
“The briefings coming out of the prime minister’s bureau are just another round of spin, one of many that we have seen in recent days,” a Liberman aide said. “This is an attempt to whitewash bringing in the Zionist Union, in violation of promises made to voters before the elections.”
“Since the elections, Yisrael Beytenu has demanded the formation of a real national unity government that will end Hamas rule in Gaza, will build in Ariel and Ma’aleh Adumim, and prevent [Joint List chairman] Ayman Odeh and Haneen Zoabi from running for a seat in the Knesset.”
“It is the current government that has prevented this until now,” the aide said.
