Liberman blasts government, thanks Obama for blocking anti-Israel nuclear resolution

Former foreign minister Avigdor Liberman opened the meeting with his Yisrael Beytenu faction on Monday by thanking the Obama administration for blocking a resolution on a nuclear-free Middle East while taking Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to task for allowing disagreements with Washington to fester in public.
“The United States has proven yet again that it is a true friend to Israel,” Liberman said.
The Yisrael Beytenu chief, who surprised political observers when he spurned Netanyahu and joined the opposition, criticized the new government for the recent appointments of ministers and officials in key positions.
Liberman said that the uncertainty regarding the ministers' respective roles has prevented the convening of the powerful Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, a situation that he called "unprecedented."
