Lieberman, Steinitz head to Paris for 50th OECD forum

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was scheduled to depart for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Forum, which is taking place in Paris to commemorate 50 years since the organization's founding.

Lieberman was scheduled to meet with several officials during his visit, including OECD Secretary-Genearl Angel Gurria, Slovenian President Danilo Turk, Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang Sik, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, Czech Minishter of Foreign Affairs, and several other world leaders.

Ahead of the trip, Lieberman said in a statement, "The OECD's 50th anniversary commemoration is taking place precisely on the first anniversary of Israel's official membership in the organization."

He added that it is Israel's intention to continue efforts to strengthen its position in the OECD, and through those actions, "to continue to contribute towards the strengthening of Israel’s international standing and the strengthening and development of Israel’s economy on all levels.”

Also partaking in the forum is Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, who was scheduled to speak during the opening ceremony on Wednesday.
