Levy-Abekasis appointed to Communal Strengthening, Development Minister

Levy-Abekasis will also serve as a member of the newly-formed government's Socio-Economic Committee as well as the Reconciliation Committee.

Gesher Party leader Orly Levy-Abekasis was promoted to the head of a new ministry titled the Communal Strengthening and Development Ministry early Thursday morning.
The decision was part of a coalition deal between the Likud and Gesher parties.
Levy-Abekasis will also serve as a member of the newly-formed government's Socio-Economic Committee as well as the Reconciliation Committee.
The Communal Strengthening and Development Ministry will include several subjects and authorities which are currently under the Public Security Ministry, such as the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Violence Authority, the City Without Violence Project, and the National Headquarters for the Protection of Children on the Web.
She will additionally work to advance projects and strengthen the Arab sector in the country.
Within the coalition deal, the Likud and Gesher parties will form a mutual position on the governmental budget with a plan to allocate additional funds to the health system, return laid-off workers to the employment market, etc.
