Likud candidate Pinhas Idan withdraws from party's elections list

Pinhas Idan, 19th on the Likud Party's list for April's election, officially withdrew his consideration for the race on Wednesday, he said in a statement.
Idan was expected to announce on his resignation from the party’s Knesset list after the head of the Central Elections Committee, Supreme Court justice Hanan Melcer indicated to him at a hearing on Tuesday that such a move would be in his best interest.
Idan's candidacy was in question because he attempted to run while remaining head of the airport workers union. He accepted a lower post to be able to run in a deal that Melcer and Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit have said is problematic.
