The Likud party issued a response on Saturday to Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid's criticism of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's policies during the 50-day war in Gaza. The prime minister "led Operation Protective Edge firmly, decisively and with strength," a statement said, "but also with responsibility and caution."Throughout the July-August war, the premier's main considerations were to "complete the goals" of the IDF, which included the destruction of cross-border terror tunnels into Israel as well as eroding the infrastructure of Hamas, "all the whilst protecting the lives of Israeli citizens and soldiers."The people of Israel know these are the facts and that the "security challenges facing the Jewish state require experienced leadership." The rest, the statement said, is nonsense coming from the mouth of a failed politician, who, Likud noted, was supportive of Netanyahu's policies during the war.
