Magnitude 5.4 earthquake jolts western Japan

TOKYO - An earthquake with preliminary magnitude 5.4 jolted Wakayama prefecture in western Japan on Tuesday, public broadcaster NHK said.
The earthquake caused strong shaking in the area near the epicentre, to the south of Japan's third-largest city of Osaka, although there were no initial reports of damage, NHK said.
The broadcaster said there was no threat of a tsunami due to the earthquake.
