A Jewish man shot by a police officer in Bat Yam succumbed to his wounds Saturday evening at Wolfson Hospital.
According to police, on Saturday afternoon they were called to the scene of a brawl between a number of suspects in their 30s on Hasar Shapira Street in the Tel Aviv suburb. Police said officers who arrived at the scene managed to break up the fight, but that one man holding a knife continued to approach another suspect and a police officer. Police said the officer then tried to subdue the man, during which he fired his pistol, critically wounding the man.
A second suspect was taken to Wolfson in serious condition, but paramedics were not able to confirm if he was wounded by police or during the brawl.
Tel Aviv police said the Justice Ministry will open a probe into the incident.
