Man who attacked former colleague to serve 18-year sentence

The Tel Aviv District Court sentenced Idan Anouri, the Ramat Gan man who brutally attacked a young woman on Chen Boulevard in Tel Aviv two years ago, to 18 years in prison on Monday afternoon.
During the attack, Anouri reportedly ambushed the woman cutting her throat and mutilating her face in attempt to stab her to death. The discrepancy was apparently fuled by Anouri's anger toward the woman, whom he believed was responsible for his dismissal at the NGO where the two had worked.
Anouri was acquitted of attempted murder charges, but was convicted of aggravated assault and aggravated robbery, and was also slated to pay NIS 150,000 in damages to the woman.
Ori Keinon, Anouri's lawyer said his client intended to appeal the verdict and the sentence to the Supreme Court.
