Manuel Trajtenberg announces he is entering politics

Renowned economist Manuel Trajtenberg announced on Wednesday that he is entering politics.
Although he was sought after by numerous parties, including former minister Moshe Kahlon's Koolanu party, He is apparently leading towards the Labor list, that recently united with Tzipi Livni's Hatnua party ahead of the March election, a source close to him said. Trajtenberg joing labor would be a blow to Kahlon, who has lost out on Adina Bar Shalom and former IDF Chief of Staff Yoav Galant who he sought to attract.
In a letter that Trajtenberg wrote to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his capacity of education minister Trajtenberg asked to advance his departure from his post as chairman of the Council of Higher Education. He wrote that he intended to enter politics "in order to contriute to economic prosperity and ceating a more just society."
