Marie Pizem, whose daughter Rose's body was found in the Yarkon River earlier this year, told the Petah Tikva District Court Tuesday that Ronny Ron "didn't tell me she was dead, he said 'she won't come back, it's over.' I thought I was going crazy." Pizem, who is a murder suspect in the case, has in the past adamantly stated that she was not involved in the death of her child. Rose's grandfather and Pizem's partner, Ronny Ron, accepted responsibility for Rose's death, saying he had killed the girl by accident. In her tearful statement, Pizem reiterated that when Rose had first gone missing, Ron had told her that the young girl was staying at his mother's house, later claiming that she had been sent to a French boarding school. According to Pizem, Ron told her only in June - about a month after Rose's death - that there had been "an accident" and that the child would not be coming back. Pizem went on to describe the shock that had gripped her when she had learned of her daughter's fate, adding that she had not contacted the authorities due to fears that she and her surviving daughters "would be nothing" without Ron's support. Pizem stressed that she had asked Ron in a letter to "get rid of Rose" and send her back to France only because she felt that she had irreparably failed her eldest daughter, from whom she had been separated for almost three years.
