Mateh Yehuda council members arrested

Mateh Yehuda council members arrested Police on Monday arrested 12 members of the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council, and called in eight others for questioning, for suspected involvement in a corruption scandal.
In an undercover probe carried out over the past several months, investigators uncovered a scheme allegedly run by a senior council official, together with accomplices, that involved contractors receiving preferential treatment for their building projects in exchange for bribes.
The suspects in the case face charges including fraud, tax crimes, and money laundering. The undercover investigation also uncovered suspected sex crimes perpetrated against a number of women by the senior council official.
On Monday morning, investigators searched the suspects’ homes and offices, confiscating documents and computers.
