Mei Finegold to perform at Eurovision song contest

The multi-national Eurovision singing contest’s second semi-final will take place Thursday night in Copenhagen, with Israel’s Mei Finegold generating buzz for her song “Same Heart.” Finegold will compete with 14 other entries vying to enter Saturday’s grand finale.
Strutting around confidently in a metallic studded skintight leotard in her music video for the song, she seems to have ripped a page from Pink’s pop star playbook. With synthesized background beats to back her up, Fiengold sings about recovering from a toxic relationship.
The Rishon Lezion native entered the national singing scene with her appearance in the popular singing competition Kochav Nolad (“A Star is Born”) in 2009. Her third-place finish led to a solo album and landed her a starring role in the musical Kazablan at Tel Aviv’s Cameri Theater. The Eurovision semi-finals will be broadcast on Thursday night on Channel 1 at 10 p.m. and the finale will be broadcast Saturday night on 9 p.m.
