Intelligence Affairs Minister Dan Meridor on Tuesday expressed opposition to the Golan referendum bill, on which a Knesset vote was postponed the previous day.
Meridor said that the law, which would require any government to hold a national referendum before turning the Golan Heights over to Syrian authority as a result of peace negotiations, would "harmfully weigh Israel down."
He added that the "unnecessary" legislation could hinder a "possible peace accord" with Syria.
