LOS ANGELES- A Muslim militant has urgedAmerican followers to assassinate US talk show host DavidLetterman, saying his tongue deserves to be cut out, a USintelligence monitoring group said on Wednesday.
The SITE intelligence group said the death threat wasposted on an online website used by militants after the writerbecame upset by a joke Letterman made about the death of aleading member of al Qaida killed in an air-strike in Pakistan.
The militant called on Muslims in the United States to "cutthe tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever," the threatagainst Letterman said, according to a translation by SITE. Thepopular late-night television host is not Jewish.Executives at broadcaster CBS and a spokesman for Lettermanon Wednesday declined to comment on the threat.
