Military Police to investigate conduct of soldiers in Beersheba terror attack

Military Police have launched an investigation into the conduct of IDF soldiers during the terrorist attack in Beersheba this week.
One investigation will examine whether soldiers played any role in the mob attack on the Eritrean civilian, Haptom Zarhum, who was mistaken for a terrorist, shot by a security guard, and then set upon by others who were on the scene.
Military Police will join the Israel Police in investigating the attack on Zarhum.
A second investigation will look at armed soldiers who were on the scene but failed to engage the terrorist. "The existing instruction for soldiers everywhere is to engage and remove the threat, including when they are in a civilian setting. That is the order, that is the spirit of the IDF. This is our role as defenders of the nation," IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Moti Almoz said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
