MK Tibi: New coalition will not help the peace process

Anyone who thinks the new coalition including Kadima will aid the peace process is "kidding themselves," MK Ahmed Tibi (United Arab List-Ta'al) told Israel Radio Sunday morning.
Tibi said the diplomatic channel that had been opened between Israeli envoy Yithak Molcho and the Palestinian Authority's chief negotiator, Saeb Erekat, was closed, after the two led delegations that met a number of times this last year in efforts to breathe life into the stalled peace process.
Last month, PA President Mahmoud Abbas sent Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu a letter outlining the PA's conditions for restarting direct negotiations, which included the halting of settlement construction in the West Bank.
Netanyahu relayed a response to the PA this last Saturday in a letter that was delivered to Abbas by Molcho. It was not met favorably in Ramallah.
"The content of (Netanyahu's) letter did not represent grounds for returning to negotiations," Palestinian officials said on Sunday.
