Mob boss arrested in major cold case years earlier

The former head of what was once one of Israel’s top organized crime families will appear in court on Monday on charges of masterminding a serious crime in Tel Aviv several years ago.
Details of the exact allegations and the name of the mob boss are still under a gag order until he appears in court, but the case was a major story when it broke years ago, and was given top priority by the International Crimes Unit of the Israel Police.
The case has remained a mystery in the Israeli underworld ever since.
The mob boss was among dozens of suspects arrested in late May in the “Case 512” investigation, which police officials have referred to as one of the biggest in the history of Israel.
The suspects arrested in the case include several crime family bosses - including rival bosses – and at the center of the case are a series of underworld murders from over a decade ago, as well as a litany of drug trafficking, money laundering, and other organized crime charges.
