Following the death in the West Bank of Palestinian Minister Ziad Abu Ein, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said Wednesday that reports of excessive use of force by Israeli security forces are "extremely worrying."
"I call for an immediate, independent investigation into Minister Abu Ein's death. This is a dramatic reminder for the entire international community of the deteriorating situation on the ground," she said.

The cause of the minister's death was not clear on Wednesday evening. IDF sources said they believed he died of a heart attack during a protest against West Bank settlements in which he clashed with Israeli security forces.
