Mother taken to mental treatment after neglecting children

A Petah Tikva mother whose children were found in their underwear alone at their home on Sunday night has been sent for psychological treatment at a mental health facility, Sharon District Police spokesman Eran Yehuda said Monday.
On Sunday night police responded to a call by a neighbor who heard crying from the yard of a house in the city, and arrived to find two eight-month-old twins and their four-year-old brother, all alone in the yard in their underwear. Police gave the children clothes and food, and they have been taken for treatment with the state social services, Yehuda added.
The mother was found shortly thereafter and was taken for a police investigation on suspicion of negligence. The woman’s house was reportedly in a state of disrepair and neglect, according to police.
Yehuda said the woman has a significant other who lives with her at the apartment, but has not yet been found.
According to Yehuda, the woman has no record of abuse or neglect, and there is some doubt that a criminal case could be brought against her, as she is probably not fit to stand trial.
