Nahariya state hospital gets NIS 260 million new ob/gyn center

A NIS 260 million, 10,000-square-meter obstetrics/gynecology center was opened Wednesday at part of the state-owned Western Galillee Medical Center in Nahariya. Health Minister MK Ya’acov Litzman was present, along with hospital director Dr. Masad Barhoum, Bar-Ilan University president Prof. Daniel Hershkovitz and other guests.
The center includes 12 delivery rooms reinforced against bombs and missiles, two neonatal units and an underground hospitalization wing. The hospital already delivers 5,000 babies a year; the new center will enable it to expand the number and provide more services to women of all ages.
Litzman promised to expand the internal medicine department and the operating suites as well as part of his commitment to medical services in the periphery.
