National Religious Party supports opening of Carta parking lot

While Jerusalem City Council representative Shmuel Yitzhaki of Shas quit the coalition on Sunday in protest over Mayor Nir Barkat's decision to open the Carta parking lot on Saturdays, the National Religious Party representatives expressed support for opening the lot, Israel Radio reported on Sunday evening. National Religious Party representative and Jerusalem Deputy Mayor David Hadari said that the police recommendation to open the parking lot indicates that this is a matter of pikuah nefesh (the demand to save lives above virtually all the other commandments.)
