NATO says has no confirmation Gaddafi seeking way out

BRUSSELS - NATO has no confirmed information that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is looking for a deal to relinquish power, the military alliance's secretary general said on Wednesday.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen also repeated NATO's call for Gaddafi to step down.
"I have no confirmed information that Gaddafi has sounded out the possibility to step down but it is quite clear that the end state must be that he leaves power," Rasmussen told a news conference.
A Russian newspaper this week quoted what it described as a high-level source as saying that Gaddafi was sounding out the possibility of stepping down - on condition that there is a political role for one of his sons.
