The Central District Court sentenced a seventeen-year-old youth on Monday to two and a half years' detention in the Mitzpe Yam juvenile correctional institution.
The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was convicted of manslaughter after pushing a teen from the roof of a Netanya school.
The defendant had climbed onto the roof with three others to inhale gas from an air conditioning unit, when he got into an argument with another teenager and pushed him off the roof.
The judge said the decision to detain the youth in a juvenile correctional facility rather than a regular prison was to help rehabilitate as well as punish him.
