Netanyahu: Allegations made by police against my wife are 'baseless'

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to allegations made by Israel Police earlier Sunday that stated there existed evidence which could possibly be used in bringing charges against the premier's wife, Sara Netanyahu, for the misuse of state funds in managing the Prime Minister's residence.

In a Facebook post uploaded on behalf of the "Netanyahu family," the prime minster denied any wrongdoing on behalf of his wife and said that police suspicions were "baseless."

"The announcement by police today did not recommend any charges to be brought against Mrs. Netanyahu," the prime minister's post began.

"Contrary to media reports, Mrs. Netanyahu has not committed any offenses. Various claims made by the media turned out to be baseless, as have all allegations made against the Netanyahu family for years," the premier added.

Evidence was also found against two other suspects – Ezra Seidoff, a top deputy in the Prime Minister’s office, and electrician Avi Fahima.

Police have handed the investigative findings to Jerusalem district prosecutors, who will decide how to proceed.
